Yet they didn't reach the playoffs, and they spent millions in future salary-cap responsibility to improve marginally. What do they do next? Certainly, they make a competitive offer to retain point guard Raymond Felton, the fifth pick of the 2005 draft. But it's highly unlikely they'll make a qualifying offer to Sean May, the 13th pick of that same draft. He hasn't played in six games, and his conditioning and health issues suggest he's a wasted lottery selection.
